Solar Project Update

Green Mountain Energy Company's Big Texas Sun Club® recently dedicated its 23rd solar array, this one to the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi. The new solar array will not only reduce energy costs for the Aquarium but will also inform its visitors of the importance of solar panels and solar energy. The donation was made possible thanks to Green Mountain’s dedicated Texas customers who are also members of the club.

About this array:
  • Dedicated June 14th, 2010
  • Expected to produce over 12,000 (kWh) of electricity each year by converting sunlight into pollution-free energy
  • Estimated savings to the Aquarium's energy bill of $117,000 in a span of 30 years
  • The 36 solar panels will offset enough carbon dioxide (CO2) each year, which is equivalent to driving 15 trips from Corpus Christi to New York City.
  • The largest solar array in the Corpus Christi area

Please visit the Big Texas Sun Club website to sign up or for more information about this and the other 22 solar projects made possible by the Big Texas Sun Club.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Green Mountain customers together have helped avoid 11.3 billion pounds of CO2 emissions, which is like NOT taking 4.7 million road trips from Houston to Mount Rushmore and back!
